Mohamed Okash is a policy researcher, facilitator, and ecosystem builder working at the intersection of climate action, development, and institutional leadership in fragile and transitioning contexts. He is the Founding Director of the Institute of Climate and Environment (ICE) at SIMAD University and a Faculty Member at the LéO Africa Institute for Leadership Development, where he supports the development of values-driven, systems-oriented African leaders.

He is an Acumen Fellow (2025) and an Op-Ed Project Fellow (2026), and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Nature and Climate Governance. His work focuses on climate justice, foresight, and translating global policy frameworks into locally grounded action. His writing and analysis have been published on platforms including the World Economic Forum, The Conversation, and UN Somalia channels.

Okash regularly facilitates multi-stakeholder learning spaces bringing together youth leaders, policymakers, civil society, and development partners. He also hosts the Aaran Podcast, a Somali-led platform dedicated to climate change and environmental sustainability conversations, amplifying local voices and evidence-based narratives from the frontline.
